El Salvador is preparing to dispatch 100 tons of humanitarian supplies to Colombia across two cargo flights, following an official request from the South American nation. President Nayib Bukele announced that the first flight is scheduled to depart tonight, with the second taking off tomorrow morning.
“The Colombian government has requested humanitarian aid strictly in the form of supplies to assist families affected by the earthquake,” Bukele stated, clarifying that local first responders are already handling ground operations effectively.
Because Colombia’s local emergency, medical, and rescue teams are fully deployed, foreign relief personnel will not be needed at this time. In response, El Salvador tailored its aid package to match the specific supply requirements outlined by Colombian authorities.
“We will remain attentive to how the emergency evolves,” Bukele added, reiterating El Salvador’s readiness to extend further assistance if requested by their “Colombian brothers.”
