El Salvador continues to strengthen its position as one of the fastest-growing tourism destinations in the region, with 2.5 million international visitors recorded as of June 2026, according to Minister of Tourism Morena Valdez.
Speaking during the television program Frente a Frente, Valdez said the country remains on pace to achieve its annual target of 4.2 million international visitors, highlighting the sustained growth of the tourism sector.
“We have already welcomed 2.5 million international visitors this year. Our goal is 4.2 million, and we are well on track to achieve it,” the minister stated.
Valdez attributed the sector’s continued expansion in part to El Salvador’s improved security environment, noting that an increasing number of foreign visitors are choosing not only to travel through the country but also to establish residence in destinations such as Surf City, the western mountains, and the country’s volcanic regions.
She pointed to Punta Roca as an example, where an immigration office has been established to assist foreign residents with legal procedures, reflecting the growing international interest in living and investing in El Salvador.
With record visitor arrivals and continued investment in tourism infrastructure and public services, El Salvador is advancing toward another milestone year, reinforcing its reputation as a safe and attractive destination for international travelers and long-term visitors.
