El Salvador’s Construction Boom Boosts Furniture Demand and Regional Hotel Exports.

El Salvador’s real estate market is experiencing an unprecedented transformation, catalyzed by a historic 24.41% growth rate in the construction sector. This booming environment has fundamentally altered consumer dynamics, triggering a massive wave of residential developments and apartment complexes across the nation. At the forefront of this industrial expansion is Indufoam, a premier regional manufacturer that has successfully leveraged the housing upswing to diversify and scale its operations.

Domestically, the rapid influx of new properties entering the market has driven an exceptional surge of over 20% in local demand for home furnishings. According to José Roberto Gutiérrez, Indufoam’s Commercial Director, this momentum has shifted traditional market trends, with living room furniture sales outstepping the company’s core bedding segment during the opening months of 2026. “The national demand has been stimulated by the growth of the real estate market,” Gutiérrez explained, noting that this aggressive interior-outfitting trend is uniquely concentrated in El Salvador compared to neighboring Central American countries.

Simultaneously, El Salvador’s local momentum is mirroring its aggressive expansion into the international luxury hospitality supply chain. Backed by rigorous international quality certifications, Indufoam has positioned itself as an elite supplier for high-end global hotel brands, recently outfitting prestigious properties such as the Waldorf Astoria and a new JW Marriott in Costa Rica. “Not just any bed manufacturer can be a supplier for these hotel categories in the world,” Gutiérrez emphasized, highlighting the strict standards required to secure contracts with corporate giants like Marriott, Hilton, and InterContinental.

This dual success in domestic furniture and premium hospitality supply has turned manufacturing into a powerful gateway for global markets. Currently, more than half of Indufoam’s mattress production is destined for international trade, reaching 13 countries including Mexico, South Africa, Morocco, and Peru. Looking ahead, the company is actively sending specialized samples to U.S. laboratories to secure new certifications, setting its sights on anchoring its presence within the lucrative United States hospitality network.
