El Salvador is experiencing a major economic surge as Colombian superstar Shakira brings her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour” to San Salvador for an exclusive five-show run — the only stop in Central America. Government projections estimate the concert series will generate approximately $55 million for the national economy, marking one of the most significant entertainment-driven boosts in recent years.
Officials expect around 135,000 attendees across the five performances at the National Stadium Jorge “Mágico” González, with nearly half arriving from abroad. Visitors from Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and other countries are traveling to El Salvador specifically for the concerts, triggering a wave of spending in hotels, restaurants, transportation services, and local businesses.
Authorities anticipate full hotel occupancy in San Salvador during concert dates, with up to 80 percent occupancy in other tourist destinations nationwide. Restaurants are also expected to operate at full capacity, while commercial areas near the venue report heightened activity. In labor terms, the government projects the creation of 4,000 direct jobs and 7,000 indirect jobs linked to tourism, logistics, and event operations.
“The residency of Shakira will boost visitor arrivals, energizing hotel occupancy, transportation, gastronomy, and commerce — a reflection of a country moving forward with confidence and gaining trust worldwide,” the Presidential Press Secretariat stated. With performances scheduled through February 15, El Salvador is positioning itself as a growing hub for world-class entertainment and large-scale international events.
