El Salvador’s Vice Ministry of Transportation (VMT) is planning to implement a special bus circuit to transport fans attending Shakira’s five concerts in February, as part of a broader traffic management plan for the high-profile event.
Vice Minister of Transportation Nelson Reyes said on Tuesday that the institution is developing a strategy that includes designated pickup points where concertgoers will be able to board buses heading to the National Stadium Jorge “El Mágico” González in San Salvador. The plan also contemplates the authorization of specific parking areas where attendees can leave their vehicles before transferring to the bus circuits.
“Different locations are being planned where people can park and then use bus circuits to reach the stadium. We must remember there are several dates, five concerts that will take place here,” Reyes said.
Shakira will perform in El Salvador on February 7, 8, 12, 14, and 15 as part of her “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour,” marking a five-night residency that quickly sold out and attracted fans from across the region. Trucks carrying platforms and stage structures have already begun unloading at the stadium.
With the first three concert dates enabled, the Salvadoran government initially projected at least 82,000 attendees, 88 percent of whom are expected to be Salvadorans. Authorities also estimate that the event will generate 4,000 direct jobs and 7,000 indirect jobs, contributing approximately $25 million to the national economy.
