Historic Security Achievement: El Salvador Marks 200 Days Without Violent Deaths in 2025

El Salvador has reached a significant milestone in public safety, achieving 200 days without homicides in 2025. According to the National Civil Police (PNC), Tuesday, August 26, was another day with zero deaths due to violence, continuing the country’s sustained decline in homicides.

So far this month, El Salvador has recorded 23 days without violent deaths, including August 2–7, 9–21, and 23–26, demonstrating a consistent trend toward improved security nationwide.

The PNC highlighted the achievement on its official X account, stating: “We ended Tuesday, August 26, with 0 homicides in the country.” Authorities attribute this historic reduction in violent deaths to the Territorial Control Plan and the ongoing state of emergency, which have facilitated the capture of thousands of gang members and reinforced law enforcement presence across the nation.

This milestone underscores El Salvador’s continued progress in tackling violent crime and promoting public safety, positioning the country as a model for effective security strategies in Central America.
