For the first time in history, El Salvador will host the 50th Plenary Session of the Financial Action Task Force of Latin America (GAFILAT), alongside key working group meetings, from July 28 to 31 in San Salvador.
Delegates from GAFILAT’s 18 member countries, along with international observers, will gather to evaluate regional progress in anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing.
This milestone follows El Salvador’s successful 2024 evaluation, where the country was recognized for its strong inter-institutional coordination and alignment with global financial transparency standards.
The decision to hold the event in El Salvador highlights the nation’s growing leadership in regional compliance and transparency. Authorities have emphasized that transparency builds trust—an essential foundation for attracting investment and reinforcing the rule of law.
El Salvador continues to strengthen its legal and regulatory frameworks, reinforcing its commitment to fighting financial crime and upholding international norms.
