El Salvador Expands Export Opportunities Through New Deal with Honduran Distributor.

Local businesses and entrepreneurs in El Salvador have a new gateway to international markets thanks to a recent strategic alliance with Honduran distributor “La Unión.” The partnership aims to promote and position Salvadoran exports in Tegucigalpa and surrounding areas.

Facilitated by El Salvador’s embassy in Honduras, this initiative is part of the “Casas Comercializadoras” program, a government effort led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and supported by diplomatic and consular missions. The goal is to connect Salvadoran producers with commercial partners abroad, boosting the international presence of Salvadoran goods.

La Unión, with over a decade of experience distributing beverages, food products, disposable packaging, and more, operates through high-traffic outlets like supermarkets and convenience stores. This new collaboration paves the way for greater visibility and demand for Salvadoran products—particularly those crafted by micro and small enterprises.

“We’ve already facilitated initial connections with food sector businesses. They’re also showing interest in agro-industrial products, spirits, manufactured goods, plastics, and artisanal items,” stated Jorge Umaña, El Salvador’s ambassador to Honduras.

To strengthen the Casas Comercializadoras program, embassies and consulates are working closely with CONAMYPE (the National Commission for Micro and Small Enterprises), helping expand opportunities for Salvadoran entrepreneurs abroad. This export model is already active in several countries, including the United States, Canada, Panama, and various European nations—often with support from members of the Salvadoran diaspora.
