El Salvador to Launch Telemedicine Program to Revolutionize Healthcare.

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele is set to launch a telemedicine program this year aimed at improving access to healthcare services through advanced technology, according to Health Minister Francisco Alabi.

Funded with support from the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, the program will streamline processes and prioritize urgent cases, Alabi explained. “Telemedicine will transform the healthcare system 100%,” he stated, emphasizing that it is not a replacement for traditional healthcare but an additional tool to enhance the system.

The initiative will allow emergency services to classify patients remotely, directing them to the appropriate healthcare facility for quicker attention. This will reduce overcrowding in hospitals and improve efficiency. Additionally, tasks such as delivering medications or scheduling tests will become more accessible under this program.

This groundbreaking step is expected to modernize the nation’s healthcare infrastructure and improve service delivery for all Salvadorans.
