December 4-5, 2024, marks a critical date for sustainable energy in Latin America and the Caribbean as El Salvador hosts the 11th Geothermal Congress for Latin America and the Caribbean (GEOLAC 2024). The conference will gather energy experts, policymakers, and industry leaders from across the region to discuss and develop strategies for geothermal energy, the only energy source solely dedicated to powering and heating the region sustainably.
Organized in partnership with the Government of El Salvador, the World Bank, the Energy Sector Management Assistance Program (ESMAP), and the International Geothermal Association (IGA), GEOLAC 2024 will tackle pressing issues, dismantle barriers, and build actionable plans to expand geothermal projects throughout the region.
“The world’s eyes are once again on El Salvador!” remarked El Salvador’s Director General of Energy, Hydrocarbons, and Mines. “In just one month, we will welcome geothermal nations, extending a warm invitation on behalf of President Nayib Bukele to join us in advancing this transformative energy solution.”
The event promises an in-depth exploration of geothermal opportunities, with the shared vision of making clean, renewable energy accessible across Latin America and the Caribbean.
