President Bukele Announces Successful Seizure Of $28.7 Million In Cocaine.

In a significant operation, the Trident Naval Task Force of the Salvadoran Armed Forces has seized cocaine valued at $28.7 million, following a successful interception 920 nautical miles southwest of Bocana El Cordoncillo, Estero de Jaltepeque. President Nayib Bukele announced the details of the operation, which involved the capture of an Ecuadorian vessel carrying 1,551 kilos of cocaine.

The operation took a decisive turn when, just 90 minutes later, a second vessel manned by three Mexican citizens was detected, also aiming to receive the illicit shipment. These individuals were subsequently intercepted and will face legal action for their involvement in drug trafficking.

President Bukele highlighted the operation’s significance, noting that in less than seven months, the Salvadoran Navy has seized over 12 tons of drugs on the high seas, with an estimated value of $310.9 million. This ongoing effort underscores the commitment of the Salvadoran government to combat drug trafficking and enhance national security.
