Pacific Union Partnership Drives Acajutla Port Infrastructure Upgrades.

The Executive Port Commission (CEPA) of El Salvador has detailed the third part of the national economic plan, an ambitious expansion project for Acajutla Port, aimed at boosting its capacity to handle ships and cargo. The development is part of a collaboration with the Pacific Union, positioning Acajutla as a key hub for maritime logistics in the region.

The expansion will unfold in several stages:

Initial Phase: This phase focuses on short-term needs, including infrastructure improvements and the acquisition of new equipment to enhance operational efficiency.

Phase I: A new dock will be built, along with a container yard, refrigerated warehouse, maintenance and repair building, and the acquisition of additional equipment and operational systems.

Phase II: Plans for a second dock, additional container yards, new buildings, warehouses, and workshops will further increase the port’s capacity, alongside continued investment in advanced equipment.

This modernization project will significantly enhance the port’s ability to handle larger volumes of cargo, positioning El Salvador as a more competitive player in the global shipping industry.
