El Salvador’s Surf City Expands with New Projects Launched by President Bukele.

President Nayib Bukele has announced a major expansion of Surf City, a cornerstone project of his administration’s economic development plan. This ambitious initiative promises to further solidify El Salvador’s reputation as a premier tourist destination while boosting local economic growth.

Surf City, already known for its 6.5-kilometer coastal road and its role in hosting world-class surfing competitions, is set to see significant upgrades. The expansion will extend the project to 23 kilometers of road, including new bicycle paths and 14 upgraded or new bridges. The development will also include 4.5 kilometers of underground wiring, pedestrian areas, solar lighting, new bus stops, and enhanced protection and drainage systems.

The project aims to transform the coastal region from El Obispo Beach to Bitcoin Beach in El Zonte, featuring new tourist viewpoints and comprehensive city reorganization. These improvements are expected to increase trade, promote tourism, and generate thousands of new formal jobs.

El Salvador’s commitment to safety and infrastructure has successfully positioned the country as a safe and attractive destination for international tourists. Year after year, it hosts prestigious surfing events that draw athletes from around the world, a testament to the nation’s secure and welcoming environment.

The Surf City expansion is poised to amplify these successes, reinforcing El Salvador’s status as a dynamic and evolving tourist hub.
