The Government of El Salvador has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to the welfare of Salvadorans by successfully concluding the Ibero-American Social Security Seminar. The seminar, focusing on the significance of youth inclusion, marks a pivotal step towards transforming the Salvadoran Social Security Institute (ISSS) to ensure a more humane approach towards patients and the inclusion of all demographic sectors.
Directed by ISSS General Director, Mónica Ayala, and Ibero-American Social Security Organization Secretary General, Gina Magnolia Riaño, the seminar titled “Expanding Social Security Coverage to Hard-to-Reach Groups: Legislation and Best Practices for Youth Affiliation in Ibero-America” saw participation from 16 countries across the region.
“We may have different languages, cultures, and institutions, but we all share the same dream and commitment to fight for the right to social security for the inhabitants of each of our countries. With this complex issue of youth affiliation, we’re not just facing difficulties but rather complexities in finding ways to integrate the youth into our affiliation system,” remarked Mónica Ayala, ISSS Director.
Commencing on March 19th and concluding on Thursday, the seminar addressed key conclusions emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration in transforming social security systems to foster inclusivity. Featuring 20 speakers, over a hundred attendees from 16 countries, and over 700 virtual participants, the event provided a platform for fruitful discussions and knowledge exchange.
“The Ibero-American seminar we’ve just concluded addressed the issue of youth labor informality in the region, along with strategies to promote their affiliation with social security systems. We pledge to fight for all social security benefits for our Central American and Dominican Republic region,” expressed Riaño.
In this light, the Government of El Salvador reaffirms its commitment to promoting initiatives for the inclusion of hard-to-reach demographic sectors, particularly youth. It will continue collaborating with regional institutions to advance social security transformation, fostering legislative initiatives, entrepreneurship, and social security through the exchange of successful experiences and best practices.
