As the night unfolded on Thursday and Friday’s dawn began to bloom, a plane from the United States touched down at El Salvador International Airport, carrying an entire galaxy, an authentic constellation of stars finally arriving in Salvadoran territory.
Led by the Argentine soccer legend, World Cup champion, and recent winner of the 2024 The Best award, Lionel Messi, Inter Miami landed in El Salvador between Thursday night and Friday morning to face the National Team of El Salvador at the Cuscatlán Stadium on Friday night.
The Major League Soccer (MLS) team, presided over by former Manchester United midfielder David Beckham, enters the country with all its stars, including Lionel Messi, considered one of the greatest players in history. Messi is joined by Luis Suárez, the latest addition to Inter Miami for this season, and a former teammate of Messi at Barcelona.
Messi also brings with him two more of his former Barcelona teammates, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, who, along with Messi, shared part of the previous season in the MLS, completing the constellation of stars for the East Coast team in the United States.
The star-studded Inter Miami team is accompanied by their head coach, Gerardo “El Tata” Martino, a former Barcelona coach and manager of the Paraguay national team in the 2010 World Cup and the Mexico national team in the 2022 World Cup. Martino also led the Argentina national team between 2015 and 2016.
The showdown between Inter Miami and the El Salvador National Team is set to kick off at 7:00 PM at the Cuscatlán Stadium, promising a sports spectacle that has captivated Salvadorans and generated great anticipation. The match will be officiated by FIFA referee Iván Barton. This marks the first preseason game for the MLS team, promising an exciting start to their upcoming campaign.
