El Salvador Hosts Chess Tournament To Celebrate Cultural Unity.

El Salvador took the lead in organizing the second «Embracing All Cultures Chess Tournament,» a remarkable celebration of cultural diversity through the strategic game of chess. Ambassador Héctor Jaime, in his speech, highlighted chess as a universal link between nations, emphasizing its unifying and inclusive influence.

The tournament drew 22 players from 15 different countries, including the skilled Salvadoran player, Xavier Blanco. The event was a collaborative effort with the embassies of Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, and the Dominican Republic, supported by Gökyay Chess Museum and the Turkish Chess Federation.

As a cultural gesture, a chessboard featuring the artistic style of painter Fernando Llort was donated to Gökyay Chess Museum. This museum already houses the world’s largest collection of chess sets, with over 700 boards from 110 countries.

The «Embracing All Cultures Chess Tournament» not only showcased strategic brilliance but also highlighted chess’s role in fostering international connections and understanding. The event served as a vibrant tapestry of unity, transcending borders through the universal language of chess.
