Officials from the governments of El Salvador and Honduras joined forces this morning to launch the implementation of the Advanced Cargo Declaration at the El Amatillo border crossing in Pasaquina, La Unión.

Secretary General of the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat Hails the Occasion

Addressing the gathering, Francisco Lima Men, the Secretary General of the Central American Economic Integration Secretariat, highlighted the significance of this event. «This is a special day for us,» he said, «as we witness the implementation of the Advanced Cargo Declaration between El Salvador and Honduras.»

He went on to express his gratitude for the invitation to the event and stressed the importance of enhancing the integration of their countries, ultimately leading to the well-being of 30% of the Central American population.

Honduran Secretary of Economic Development Emphasizes Regional Integration

Fredis Cerrato, the Secretary of Economic Development of Honduras, underscored the project’s alignment with the Central American trade facilitation strategy, particularly focusing on border management. He emphasized the integrated approach to trade between their nations.

«For Honduras, El Salvador is a strategic trade partner. El Salvador ranks as our third most important export market, with exports totaling $505.4 million in 2022. It also stands as our fifth-largest source of imports,» he added.

A Commitment to Regional Trade Facilitation

With this launch, the government of President Nayib Bukele once again demonstrates its dedication to advancing trade facilitation in the region, making El Salvador an even more attractive destination for investments.
