Green Planet Energy and AES El Salvador Partner to Establish Solar Power in Soyapango.

Green Planet Energy has made a significant investment in the construction of a new 4.10 MW solar plant, aiming to contribute to the diversification of the municipality’s energy matrix.

The utilization of renewable energy in businesses continues to rise, and AES El Salvador, through its Solutions Division, has designed and constructed a new 4.10 megawatt (MW) solar plant for Green Planet Energy, further promoting the use of renewable energy.

According to the company, this project will play a crucial role in diversifying the energy matrix of the municipality of Soyapango.

The Ilopango Solar plant consists of 7,587 state-of-the-art monocrystalline photovoltaic modules that harness solar radiation and convert it into electricity. Subsequently, the energy will be adjusted and injected into the electrical distribution grid using 19 power inverters.

Furthermore, this solar plant will prevent the emission of approximately 1,000 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere annually, making a significant contribution to environmental preservation.

Francis Barillas, CEO of Green Planet Energy, explained that this project aligns with the company’s vision to create a better future for people through the generation of clean energy.

Roberto Sandoval, Director General of AES El Salvador’s Solutions Division, highlighted the strategic nature of the Ilopango Solar plant, emphasizing the company’s commitment to diversify the energy matrix and accelerate the future of energy in El Salvador.

Throughout 2023, AES will continue to collaborate with its strategic partners on generation projects to contribute to the energy and environmental sustainability of the country while promoting the transformation of the region in this field.

To date, AES El Salvador’s Solutions Division has installed a total of 40.5 MW of photovoltaic solar energy for various commercial and industrial clients, with an ongoing execution of 48.2 megawatts, solidifying their position as a key player in the renewable energy sector.

With the commissioning of the Ilopango Solar plant, Green Planet Energy and AES El Salvador mark an important milestone in their commitment to a greener future, contributing to the global efforts towards a sustainable and eco-friendly energy landscape.
